Key Features Of the Strider ST1 Mobility Scooter

It's Great For Safety

There are several features on this simple scooter which are great for giving confidence when out and about.

As you will see from the sideways view of the blue scooter, if you look closely at the rear wheels you will see small anti-tip wheels protruding from out behind them. Hopefully this feature will never have to be used once when you are riding on it but they are there should you exceed the maximum safe slope gradient of six degrees and the worst does happen.

To protect yourself further from this happening the drive system has an anti-roll back feature which prevents you accidentally heading in the wrong way when travelling up steep hills.

Another way in which safety is promoted are through it’s easy to see reflectors which will help to alert other users to your presence as well as illuminated controls on the tiller to help you operate it even when visibility is reduced through darkness. We of course recommend that you try to avoid using it in the dark if at all possible to help with the safety of yourself and others around you.

As a last resort way of alerting other pedestrians to your presence there is also a horn that you can press on the control system on the central tiller.

It's User Friendly

There are a whole host of ways in which this scooter is simple to use on an ongoing basis.

The armrests on the chair can be adjusted on their width whilst the tiller and the handlebars can also be moved and adjusted to suit your posture and grip.

Speaking of grip, if you suffer from problems of a weak grip the handlebars are known as ‘Delta bars’ which means that they are wraparound handlebars rather than straight, T-bar bicycle style handlebars.

The benefit to this is that are able to rest your hand on them in various ways and you are free to control the scooter in a variety of different hand positions. A test drive should teach you what position would be easiest and most comfortable for you.

Should you require the use of a scooter such as this you are likely to be experiencing difficult with mobility in other areas of your life, especially when it comes to sitting or standing up. Should this be the case the seat on your chair can swivel in a 360 degree motion which will allow you to ease yourself onto or off the chair from a standing position.

Although there are several ways in which it is designed to not move unless you tell it to, there is a two-step disengagement lever which you can use should you wish.

In free-wheel mode you can push and pull it from the side as you see fit and is most beneficial when manoeuvring it into a dry outside storage facility such as a garage or a shed. This two-step process will ensure that you won’t do it accidentally.

One thing which might give further peace of mind are its grey tyres which are designed to resist creating marks in its wake, which is reassuring to know when riding around a shop floor.

It's Easy To Take Apart And Put Together

Like any good boot scooter, this super lightweight model is very simple to take apart when it is required.

Weighing in at only 88 lbs (40kg) altogether, when it is stripped into its modular parts it is supremely light to place in your car boot.

You actually have a couple of choices when it comes to dismantling it – depending on the size of your boot you can either split it in half or you can dismantle it further into its five component pieces (which includes the front basket).

There is also a lifting handle to aid you getting it into or out of the car.

One other great aspect of this modular way that it is held together is that you are free to take the battery pack away from the main unit entirely and charge it totally separately from the rest of your scooter. If you don’t have an outdoor facility to keep your scooter in and you have to store it in your home, this ability will be very useful.

If you do want to keep it in one place and your outdoor facility has electrical access you can still charge it ‘on-board’ as it is.
