The Apex Rapid Mobility Scooter: Key Features

Comfort-Trac Suspension

A mobility scooter which has been designed with comfort and safety as its top priority, the key to the Apex Rapid is in its innovative Comfort-Trac Suspension.

Front and rear suspension is rare on a class 2 pavement scooter and it really helps to absorb all the little bumps that you will inevitably encounter whilst travelling out and about.

Although class 2 scooters are only permissible to be use on pedestrianised areas you will find that having some form of suspension will always come in handy for improving your overall ride experience because not all pedestrianised areas are as smooth as they should be!

Easy To Transport

One of the key features of any pavement scooter is in how transportable it is, and in this regard the Apex Rapid excels.

As with all pavement scooters from Pride it features a very simple feather-touch disassembly which means that it takes only moments to fully take it apart and put it back together again with a minimum of fuss.

Splitting down into its five modular parts (which are the whole of the front section including the wheels, footrest and tiller, the rear wheel section, the battery pack, the seat including the seat-post and the front basket), you can easily and quickly take the scooter with you wherever you drive to.

This is also where having suspension excels because it might be all well and good knowing what the terrain is like in the area in which you live, but if you are planning on taking a trip somewhere you will have no idea what condition the pavements and trails will be like.

The heaviest part when it is taken apart is the front section which weighs in at 36.6 lbs (16.6kg) so it is very accessible to be lifted up and down by most users.

Easy And Safe To Use

Offering a supremely smooth ride, there are also other features found on the Apex Rapid which will make it easy to use on a day to day basis.

Should you require the use of a mobility scooter it may be likely that you will need additional help when it comes to getting in and out of a chair. Should this be the case for you, you will be pleased to see that the seat swivels around so that you can ease yourself on or off when required.

As an electronically powered vehicle the drive system is very safe as the regenerative and electromechanical dual braking system helps to ensure that it cannot freewheel away. To power this correctly and to help whilst riding out there is microprocessor controller system which cleverly delivers power management in an optimum way to give you extra safety.

On a more practical basis, there is also an LED kerb light house on the front of the tiller to help illuminate your path and any upcoming obstacles. We do of course advise that you refrain from riding out in the pitch dark for safety reasons, but this additional light is great for showing your way in a gloom and for letting others know that you are coming up behind them.

Should you have any issues with a weakened hand grip or other ailments involving your hands or wrists, this model has a Delta tiller which means that you can operate it with your hands in a variety of positions.

A Great Scooter If You Have Limited Storage Options

As a pavement scooter which can be dismantled, you can have two choices on how to store it when it is not in use.

Should you have the space and the correct facilities to do so you can leave it set up in a suitably warm and dry environment (such as a dry garage or shed). However, if you don’t have access to outside facilities such as this and you wish to store it your home the best way to store it is to dismantle it into its parts.

Whichever one you choose to go for there are two ways in which to charge the battery depending on your preference for convenience – either ‘onboard’ or ‘offboard’.

This means that you can remove the battery separately away from the main chassis if you wish and charge it somewhere that is convenient and unobtrusive for you.
